![]() Our Endowment CampaignIn order to ensure the long-term success of Operation Walk Denver, an endowment was established in 2008. An endowment is a collection of funds that produce income for a program or organization. Typically, program activities are partially financed from investment proceeds and generally, an endowment is kept intact and only the income generated is used. With this in mind, a four-year campaign to raise a $4.2 million endowment was begun so that Operation Walk Denver could continue to make two trips per year. Organizations typically strive to earn at least a 5% annual return on endowments. Adventist Health Systems guarantees a 6% annual return. It is that kind of confidence that has inspired donors to give so that individual gifts to the endowment campaign continue to rise. Words cannot express the passion and commitment of Dr. Dennis toward the work Operation Walk does. His vision is to travel to countries in need, and with his dedicated team of volunteers, perform life-changing joint replacement surgeries, and educate medical professionals. He welcomes groups from the United States interested in doing the same kind of work and is committed to training them to perform as independent Operation Walk chapters. His dream is to leave these countries better than he found them, continuing to other regions changing lives of the less fortunate. By following his passion for helping others and inspiring people to do the same, he hopes to fulfill a vision, far down the road, that Operation Walk services will no longer be needed.
