Make A Difference

Each Operation Walk Denver mission represents an immense logistical undertaking. On average, 8,000 pounds of supplies (such as prosthetics, surgical equipment, medications, bandages, crutches, etc.) must be shipped ahead to the host country and cleared through customs before the mission can even begin. This is in addition to the cost of transporting team members as well. On average, a typical trip to South or Central America costs over $100,000, including shipping charges.

Although many supplies are donated and team members are all volunteers, every other aspect of these mission trips are only possible through generous donations. Contributions go directly to providing life-changing surgeries. 100% of these donations go toward expenses associated with joint replacements and training in third world countries.

Operation Walk Denver is a not-for-profit volunteer organization and so relies heavily on contributions to fulfill its mission of restoring the joy of walking to people in developing countries. Because it is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization as defined in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, gifts made qualify as charitable contributions for income tax purposes.

The goal of Operation Walk is to not only raise money for this worthy cause, but to gain awareness in the community and to give those who would like to support this type of significant work an opportunity to do so.

There are many ways to help Operation Walk Denver:

Title: My Grandma's Total Knee Replacement

By: Kendall Slutzky

From the Author: “These books are intended to provide knowledge to children on total hip and knee replacements as well as raise money for Operation Walk. When my mother had a hip and knee replacement, I could not find any type of children's book to provide to my daughter that could explain what her grandmother had experienced. Being in the field of hip and knee replacements, I decided to write this book to explain the basics in order to help a child understand the concept of a hip and knee replacement. Due to the increase in total hip and knee replacements each year, I feel this book will be very valuable for those needing these procedures to explain the experience to their children.”
