PANAMA — Fall 2009 Utilizing supplies generously donated by Porter Adventist Hospital and implants donated by DePuy Orthopedics, the team was able to operate on 60 patients in just three and a half days. They performed a record eight hip replacements, 52 knee replacements and 16 bilateral knee replacements, for a total of 76 joints. PANAMA — Spring 2009 PANAMA — Fall 2008 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — Spring 2008 GUATEMALA — April 2010 After months of careful planning and preparation, a team of 63 dedicated volunteers traveled to Guatemala City, Guatemala and drastically changed the lives of 59 patients. The team included 6 orthopedic surgeons, 4 anesthesiologists, 2 internal medicine doctors, a cardiologist and many other extraordinary medical staff members. With the handicap of only one functioning autoclave to sterilize surgical tools, the skilled surgical teams performed 33 knee replacements, 10 hip replacements, and 12 bilateral knee replacements. In addition, they completed 2 hip revisions and 2 knee revisions. A very special thank you goes out to our generous donors and trip participants. Without you we would not be able to fulfill the Operation Walk mission of helping those who are in desperate need of healing. We thank you for your charitable contributions that enable us to help those in need. |
